If you recall, it took weeks & months to find stores of weapons following the Gulf War. Most of them were hidden around the city and required informants and highly specialized equipment to find (such as Overhauser magnetometers).

And if you haven't seen the news in the last 9 years, Saddam has been hoarding supplies and food and has not allowed his people to enjoy a basic standard of life.

And, if you haven't seen the news in the last 2 months, Saddam has killed, tortured and otherwise intimidated political dissidents within his country.

Also there's the whole Anfal thing.. 60,000 or so Kurds & Turks gassed as part of an ethnic cleansing policy of the Baath party.

Granted.. oil and having a 2nd foothold in the middle east are two great reasons for the US to become involved, but that action wasn't taken against such a brutal regime years ago, I feel, is embarassing and shows that we haven't learned our lessons from WWII.

And while to date no biological/chemical/nuclear weapons have been found, there have been multiple missiles and rockets found (with conventional warheads) that were banned by the UN because of their range.
