SPONSOR PROMOTIONS - how about giving Webmasters more notice?

Why do sponsors announce promotions so late on the boards and in emails, is it so that by the time webmasters have changed their links ever etc, half the promo time will be over so they have to pay out less? Or just poor organisation?

A big dating company announced a promo half way through February recently, the promotion was for the whole month of February. One of the current promos I've just seen now and it started yesterday.

I don't know about most of you guys, but on my larger sites it takes maybe 5-10 minutes the way the sites are coded, to switch over links - so no drama there. But the rest of the network was written the old fashioned way, mostly just html. The sites were created so long ago, I wouldn't bother with the effort to find / replace link codes and switch them over. Even if they were all written as blogs, it would be hellishly time consuming across hundreds of sites.

A lot of webmasters are in the same boat.

In brief: Sponsors, tell us about your promo at least 2 or 3 days before the promo date to give us plenty of time to change links over. We want to be able to have them in place prior to the promotion kicking off.

Thank you.
