In simple terms, both sides are basically watching TV...only you're their TV and they're your TV. You're watching them, they're watching you...you can change the channel and so can they. Interesting concept, but the way it is now, this sort of stuff can happen:

You find a nice girl and are chatting with her. You both decide to get naked and start having cam sex. All of a sudden "Next" is clicked on her side, and you end up connected with a 50 year old man who's also jerking off. D'oh!

It's mostly freaks enjoying it to freak out other people. IMO if there was a more refined version, it'd have a chance at lasting success. At the least he paved the way for such a site to happen. A Bill Gates/Zuckerberg type will come along, take his idea and make the chat Facebook of sorts with it - just watch.
