That sounds like a great idea, but if he shoots these models for only his own speculative sites, he would have to put the money on the table himself, before he can pick it up.
Shooting your own stuff for yourself is not cheap (as you know), and then he would need to know how to edit, or hire editors (more money), market his sites, or hire designers/marketers (more money), etc.
Much easier to just shoot for someone else, and more profitable too, as the profit is solid, not speculative over time.
