I was for 10 years here in Ohio, that's never been a secret. Your statement above is 100% false (in most states here in the US), so I hope you never rely on that train of thought if you ever find yourself in such a situation. I lost count of how many times I lied to suspects/targets over the last few years I was in LE. Further, at least here in Ohio, should a LE agent find himself in a situation that he's got to "test the shit" or whatever (assuming it were a drug related offense investigation), there's case law to make that a legal action in the line of duty. Hell there's a famous school here in Ohio that trains LE agents all over the country/world on how to simulate doing 99% of the drugs on the street, and how to do it safely if you've got a gun to your head.
