I just read that the entire state budget for my state will be around 14.6 billion and 6 billion of that will go to education.

One of the main problems with the system is that it has become so bloated with people that do nothing to improve the value of the kids education that it is pathetic.

When I went to high school we had a principle, a vice principle, four guidance counselors and teachers. There were other staff secretaries, a nurse and a couple other people, but not many extras. Now, at that same school, they have a principle, a vice principle, a dean of students, an assistant dean of students, another person who just handles disciple, there are career guidance counselors as well as emotional guidance counselors, teachers aids and a handful of other obscure people who get paid well and don't seem to do much.

So for this school alone there are a ton of administrators who get paid very well, but really have nothing to do with the students education. They could get rid of almost all of them, use that money to hire new teachers and cut the class sizes down, but I guess that would be too easy.

A ton of money gets spent on education, they just spend it so poorly. I think there needs to be a full revamp of the system. However, I do think that if they fully revamp the system and spend money wisely and determine that we need to spend more to modernize our education system and make it top notch, that is money that we have to spend.
