The example I was referencing, which was said to be a true experience by TJeezers, was that a woman stabbed herself in the chest after receiving a blood transfusion.
Regardless of religious denomination, that's an act of mental instability that should not be reflected upon other followers of the religion that the person followed.

Blood transfusions are not 100% effective or life saving and medical knowledge was not the same, even 15 years ago, as it is today.
In these times doctors have found that the body is far more resilient than previously thought a decade ago in regards to blood loss.
Persons like yourself who do not have a grasp of the entire medical picture just take the opportunity to lambaste a religion, based on past information that is largely outdated.

Again, this is 2010. The majority of hospital facilities, even in third world countries, are equipped with these alternative methods. In some cases it's simply a matter of increasing the liquid volume of the blood, which nullifies the need for blood transfusions.
Remember that being a doctor is not a stagnant profession. New methodologies are found everyday and the governing body of medical professionals worldwide ensure that practicing doctors abide by the updated rules. That's why they must attend conferences and seminars.
Not to mention the fact that established medical bodies have come forward and admitted that past reliance on blood transfusions was based on information that was not entirely correct.

There doesn't need to be a defense of it. Medical information speaks for itself.
What's happening here is that persons are taking their dislike for religion and using that as a base to criticize a personal decision to reject a blood transfusion. Little do these types of persons know that reliance upon blood transfusions is becoming far less on a mainstream level and that it is quickly becoming an outdated medical procedure.
Medical technology is fast advancing. Some people need to update their info.
