Crazy people can be found in any grouping. To take one example and attempt to make it exemplary of all who follow a particular religion or following is disingenuous and slanderous.
Again, there are alternatives. Medical knowledge now has increased regarding the outdated opinion that blood transfusions are absolutely necessary. There are artificial solutions that will temporarily increase the volume of liquid in the blood to an appropriate level that ensures survival.
Early stages of certain infections do not show up in some tests. Take HIV for example, 6 months of regular testing once exposure has taken place is recommended to ensure that an infection is not present.
Overall, it is fairly easy to combine a disdain for certain religious beliefs with medical misinformation. It makes intolerance easier when you have 'examples'.

what ever man, i agree there are crazy people in any groups, but this is not one of them imho,
these alternative methods You mentioned gained a cirtain period with 1995 which was only 15 years ago from now, so that means there were people probably who died before that due to they refuse taking an other person's blood.
can we say these deaths totally stopped even today at all? probably not.
these alternative methods done in any hospital as a common method? i don't think so, as i learn there is one center which jws and other people who avoid from blood taking due to other reasons can go there.
actually i don't know if it's getting widespread day by day in developed countries, so i can't talk about it.
however when the day come and people have both alternative options to choose one by the other then we will no more be talking about it anymore, it will be just a historical event like other communities mistakes in the past.
with today's facilities, yet it's ridiculous to defend
