The first issue of the magazine had an article, written by a very qualified (and very kinky) military med tech, on how to drink blood safely. Wow, did we get some hate mail on that. And people had to use a stamp for that sort of thing in those days.
The name is a play on words, partly because I did my thesis on vampire legends as a paradigm for aggressive human sexuality. Blood like vampires for the gothic aesthetics of the magazine, blue like blue movies for the erotic content, and Blue Blood for fab elegance and taste and power deserving the rewards of the larger society even while sporting a mohawk and tattoos

Hey, it made sense to put some thought into naming what has been my primary brand for the past 17+ years.
