she actually emailed them last night and they replied today

here is what she said:

Message I Have smoked Kool cigarettes for 30 some years. I had no intention of quitting whatsoever, however; whatever you have incorporated into these cigarettes has changed my mind. I would not even think about buying another brand before..but this is ridiculous. They taste absolutely horrible...they burn out immediately and you don't even enjoy it anymore. Please take the chemical out. It must be from the no burn rule..am I right?

and they replied:
Dear Pam,

Thanks for letting us know about your concern with your cigarettes.

Current and pending legislation across the country requires cigarette manufacturers to sell cigarettes that meet Fire Standard Compliant requirements. Consistent with efforts to increase productivity and reduce complexity, R.J. Reynolds made the decision to convert to fire standard compliant paper on all its cigarette brands by the end of 2009, and your brand style was recently converted.

To meet these standards, we have changed the cigarette paper used in manufacturing our cigarettes.

There are bands at selected intervals on the cigarette paper that are somewhat heavier than the rest of the paper. These bands slow down the burn rate and increase the likelihood that the cigarette will go out. Although these cigarettes meet the standards established, they should be handled with the same care and attention as any other cigarette.

I am pleased to send complimentary coupons to you. Look for them to arrive within two-to-four weeks.

I want you to know that we do understand your concerns about the difference in your cigarettes and we appreciate you allowing us to assist you.
