It's probably really clouds, as these are satellite images. Of course it could also be smoke from all the fires on the ground.

The crazy thing about Port au Prince is, it was a mess BEFORE the quake. A literal shit hole. To think if that shit pot as "destroyed" now, boggles the mind. It was already destroyed.

Minus the cost of precious life, this is the best thing to ever happen to them, as they will get a brand new, totally rebuilt, foreign funded, city. I'm sure it will be rebuilt with some rolling buildings and lots of rebar in the concrete, which is something they usually don't use (rebar to strengthen the concrete) in poor areas due to the cost. That's why everything just fell down, there is NO structural support. It's just blocks and concrete.

What the poor do with their newly built city is another story.
