I don't see why you are amazed, actually. They are ignorant enough to believe that the earth is only 6000 years old... when in reality it is approximately 4.5 billion years old. They believe that a book, that was largely written during the Bronze Age, is infallible and they pray to an invisible being that they have never seen, smelled or touched that hasn't been seen, smelled or touched in recorded history. They also believe that thousands of additional invisible beings exist and have influence over reality.

A person who would believe that whooey would believe ANYTHING that their minister or spiritual/church community leader says and since the people on Fox News believe in all of the above and frequently profess... don't you think that they also believe what Fox News and all of it's ideological inanity says and represents?
Sarah Palin believes in "Spiritual Warfare"... ask any number of people who grew up in an evangelical environment, such as myself and a number of other people who post here, and I think you will find it more than coincidental that we have all seen and experienced wierd shit coming from that movement.
Many church's have "Revelation Seminars" where they constantly bombard the congregation with fear and loathing... fear of the end and loathing of anyone who is not "one of us". "We are the 144,000!"...
