I think it would take a bit more than that to preserve the planet, though I don't disagree that every little helps (it's a Tesco conspiracy) I think to preserve the planet indefinitely we would probably need to kill off a good 6 billion people. But I don't see why that should be a problem, I mean we as a species do it to seals (and many other animals) when they over populate :-)
