Of course he took out an insurance policy, Anyone who has ever worked in that environment knows You always cover your ass..
I always had a "get out of jail free card" to play if I ever needed it.. I always made sure that when questionable actions went down "Someone else" would have their ass in a sling if I got called on the carpet for anything.. It's just the way it is when you operate in that environment..
If you have never been in that world then you have no knowledge of how things work..and therefore are just speculating how things work...
