These are hang-ups from the Victorian era.

The same is applied to drug use. If someone wants to smoke ganja, or inject heroin -- what is the problem? The problems associated with drug use (crime, prostitution, etc.) stem from the high cost and limited availability of the drug. If governments were to spend a fraction of what they spend on fighting drugs, on giving the people who want drugs the drugs for free -- then the reduction in costs associated with the enforcing Victorian attitudes to 21st century problem would be staggering.
100% agreed (altho i totally hate "white lines") ... well, since 2003 prostitutes are treated like workers in germany ... health insurance, retirement funds etc. ... err, and, i wud love to kmow how much the NL gov makes from taxes on weed
