This right here is what the fuck is wrong with the United States. I don't know what it is like in the rest of the world, but it has been hitting Idiocracy levels here for quite some time.
People are so fucking obsessed with what celebrities are doing. What new dirt got dug up on who. Who got a DUI or got arrested. It is absolutely fucking stupid.
Walk up to the average American and he could probably talk to you all day about this celebrity or that one. What they did recently, blah blah blah.
But what they CANT do is give you any talking points on health care reform, or the climate summit, or even that there was a huge and important scandal uncovered about the climate crisis, they couldn't tell you anything about the patriot act or what our troops are doing at the moment (they will just say they're over there fighting the good fight) or even why or what is being fought for. How our government works or how a central banking works. I could go on and on.
And when you try to tell them what is going on in those areas and the ludicrous things that are trying to be passed underneath everyone's noses they just laugh at you and start in on the tin foil jokes or that someone sounds paranoid or the government would never do that. They will say all that without even reviewing any evidence or reading up on the subject, but they sure as fuck can tell you what Paris Hilton had for breakfast.
