True there are many people bad at math but i have noticed that alot of "smart" people i know are terrible with geography.

heres a perfect example.

I was chatting with a doctor friend and his wife the other day and we were talking about mexico for some reason and he asked me "does mexico run from coast to coast ? " , i was pretty shocked, but even more shocking was , after i gave him a general layout of the area i mentioned cuba as being an island near florida, and i shit you not he said "cuba is an island ? "

wtf , how could you go 40 years in life and not know cuba is an island

You don't think it would follow that most people that managed to get to the point of understanding algebra enough to tutor their child in it, also passed elementary school social studies/geography ?
