Exactly. People who play hero think they're actually saving the chick. If this douchebag is beating on his girlfriend today, she probably puts up with that and worse a lot and allows him to do it. By trying to save the situation, all you're doing is allowing yourself to get hurt over a chick that's most likely 1) not going to appreciate it and 2) run back to her douchebag boyfriend's side.
