I beta tested a large pay-per-email program a few years ago as they were setting it up, with no shave. I made crazy cash. Tried the same traffic, with the same company (and many others as well) a few years later and went from up to 1000 e-mails a day to about 1 or 2. I was disappointed as the checks I was getting pre-shave bought a lot of toys. Now I am selling them all.
I am SUCH a fucking loser.

I don't think it has anything to do with the company or your traffic. "A few years later" is a lot in the world of pay-per-email. Even if it's only a year later, the markets gets super saturated real quick.
You said you were sending up to 1000 emails a day. Say the average webmaster sent 100 emails a day.
100/day X 365 days = 36,500 emails
36,500 emails x 100 webmasters = 3,650,000 emails
and those are conservative estimates
