I am a long-time fan of your show and I am always impressed by the enlightening information that is presented. However, I am deeply disturbed about your show on Women, Pornography and Erotica. I felt that the crucial distinction between pornography and erotica was blurred by Jenna Jameson’s story. Her story is the exception, and not the rule, for women in the porn industry. I feel that it only presented one side to the multifaceted experience with pornography that women talk to me about every week.
For the majority of women, pornography use has affected their lives, their partner’s lives and their children’s lives in a harmful and often degrading way. For example, pornography use is now cited as the 3rd leading cause of divorce in America. It was irresponsible to leave that side of the story out. I hope, for the sake of women everywhere, that you do an additional show to present the other sides of the women and pornography experience. I believe the conversation about pornography use, is one of the most important conversations that women can have. For years, women have silently hated porn, for the fear that they would be labeled a “conservative-bible-thumping-prude” or an “angry-hairy-lesbian- feminist.”
