XP was great. But unfortunately Adobe didn't support it for 64 bit stuff. So when I went to Vista it was purely to get the power of all 16 gigs of ram I have in my machine to work with Photoshop and Premiere. And Windows 7 works a LOT better than Vista.
It's worth the upgrade just to get away from the quirky networking of Vista alone. Nothing more frustrating than having to tune your network card down to 100 MB HALF because Vista would just randomly disconnect you if you tried to run it full blast.
Now I run my network card at 1 GB FULL and I get twice the internet speeds.
Machine now boots up twice as fast too.
XP was awesome for the last 8 years, and I woulda stayed with it too...but I do a lot of intense stuff on my machine and need the full power of it. And if software companies are moving forward then so do I.
Now if all I had to do was surf GFY like some of the "players" on here...then I might stick with XP for forever. lol
