The Hammer of Thor, strongest symbol of the norse religion. The Vikings traded for generations with the English, but eventually they came to conquer. They knew which towns were wealthy, they knew the people, and they were well-armed and posessing powerful vessels. Before long, Vikings controlled most of northeastern England, a hold so strong that the King gave them the lands by law. There is still a strong norse influence in much of northern england.
