As for how to bet on spreads, football isn't a game of much parity like, say, hockey. The top teams will rarely get upset and the bottom-feeders can go a full season with only 1-2 wins. Just see if they are always blown out or if they lose competitively and based on that you should bet accordingly with the spreads.
ie. say DET always loses by an average of 14 points but the spread on them versus a good team is -6.5 (7 points), you would bet against them. If they ha dbeen losing games by only a few points though, there is a good chance they will cover the spread even if you don't think they can win the game, so go with the underdog.
You can also hedge your bets of course, but that's another whole strategy to explain
Good luck!

Thanks... and Good Luck back atcha!
I have an account with sportsbetting that I've used for years. Having placed my own bets and watched my friends, it doesn't seem that the best teams always win and vice-versa. I see people get completely upset all the time. And when I've done bets that my football obsessed friends laugh at me for... I've often won.
We'll see how it goes!
