Firstly, nobody calls her a faker. Patients suffering from psychogenic diseases actually have real symptoms which, to them, are indistinguishable from symptoms with a physiological cause. That should be evident from the very existence of psychosomatic diseases, where psychiatric causes have measurable physiological effects.
To give a well-known example: psychological stress has lots of clear effects on the human body. It weakens the immune system, influences levels of certain hormones, etc. And you can trust me when I say that it's damn hard to fake changed hormone levels.
