The Tangipahoa parish school board openly defies a federal court order to not open school board meetings with a prayer. Seriously, the ACLU sued them over this, and won, and the school board just ignores the court order and does the same thing as always....I guess they're above the law, or at least the laws they don't like, like the laws that say a black man can marry a white woman.
I had people dump trash on my front yard because I had an Obama for President sign in the yard.
I also had the sign stolen 3 times (and I seriously doubt they stole it because they wanted it for their yard)
Maybe it's not "just Louisiana" but the south in general, but Louisiana certainly leads the way with alot of this backwoods ass backwards good ole boy bullshit.
I would move if I could. When I first moved here I met a girl from here, and got her pregnant. She still lives here so I still live here, so I can be around my son.
Once he goes off to college, I'll be outta here faster than you can say whodat.

I've been around. Everything you mentioned happens everywhere to some degree. I am sure you weren't the only person in the US getting his Obama sign ripped up. There are a lot more backwards ass places in the US... Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and West Virgina have some really scary parts where it's not their cousin but their sister they are screwing. I can look past the few morons and love this place for it's culture, history, wildlife, food, music, sportsman outdoors, mardi gras, sports, etc etc etc..
or you can go live in middle of anywhere america with their boring ass town, which looks the same as any other town, blah blah. and they still have most of the same problems you would be bitching about.
