wow. that's going to be hard unless he wants to quit. that's the key.
when our doc asked us why we wanted to stop, i think he expected me to say for health reasons, blah blah blah...instead i said i was offended at the price of cigarettes and supplying them for me, my honey, and my mother in law was costing almost 400. a month. it had nothing to do with being able to afford or not afford...its was offensive. and that was my reason. i love to smoke.
doc gave us chantix. we did NOT follow the instructions. i don't get the stop date routine. the drug is designed to decrease desire, which it does..and if you do desire a cig, it passes quickly....the dreams are wild, like being on acid while asleep...but we were on it a month, i was down to 2 cigs and then stopped.
we are all smoke free now for 2 and a half years. i can be around it; but, the same rules that apply to alcoholics apply to smokers like me.
can't ever have another one.
still, can't stress enough....dad has to want to stop. otherwise, it's an exercise in futility.
