I had that happen not too long ago. A deer jumped on of my fences and my dog went after it. They both raced through the front fields and scared the shit out of my horse. Seeing the bigger target running the dog changed course and went for the horse instead. The deer got away.
To bad!! Good eating, and I cant shoot them right now!
