Who says it was a myth?
Overblown; yes, myth, no. Keep in mind the world was sort of um small to them. Particularly the region they were in. We have pretty rock solid proof that some very populated areas got wiped off the map by a great flood around the same estimated time period. Thanks to the ocean & a sea finally breaking over a small land bridge and thus filling in all of the low lands with water. Pretty much wiping out civilization. Those who did survive were bound to take their story with them and we all know what happens with stories over time.
Hell I would not even put it pass that there was some dude who everyone thought was nutty building a boat because he had sort of noticed that the water on the other side of the hills was getting higher. Do I think he gathered 2 of each animal, fuck no. Did he perhaps gather 2 of each of his animals or assorted animals he could barter for from the people who thought him nuts, sure. Was he responsible for saving everything, again hell no. Just sort of how stories often work. Especially ones that last for so long.
PS - OP
Want some extra scary boogie boo type info. Go start searching from project web-bot. It was started almost a couple decades back to predict the stock market. It monitors the internet for trends and keywords to make predictions. Naturally it has of course started making world predictions too, 911, katrina, etc. They say nobody knows where the info really goes to anymore as the creator went into hiding or whatever. Anyways it sort of is dialed into the 2012 thing too.
Then while you are at it, start digging up what the hopi indians thought at the same time. Those two areas alone should have you in information overload.
Disclaimer - Yes I fully think I will be here with the rest of most of you the following day after these events. I just happen to know the shit as there is money in it.
