From what I've gathered, it's not really an issue of implied business ethics, it's just downright theft. There is a difference in "I don't like how this guy does business" and "this guy is actively stealing from members". One has some grey area while the other doesn't.

I also don't see why a community shouldn't ban those who target them. If there was someone at a convention who was pickpocketing attendees, you certainly wouldn't blame the organizers for kicking him out. So why wouldn't a webmaster board kick out a member who is blatantly using their member base to scam others?
