The problem with watching movies at home is that you can stop them anytime you like. When you study cinema, one of the things you learn is that, unlike books and video tapes/DVD's, a film just keeps going which requires more of a commitment and involvement on the part of the viewer. You're sitting at home watching a serious film on your home system and your cell phone goes off or the timer timing your meatloaf goes off and you hit pause or you rewind/back up to what you missed. The flow of the story is gone.
Watching movies at home is shit compared to watching them in the intended theatre environment.

If you can't get back into the flow of a movie after pausing it, then you shouldn't be watching movies...or the story is so weak you can't get back into it.
Or, do wht we do. Tell all your friends and family to fuck off, and they'll stop calling.
We are true hermits, and are anti-social by choice. No one ever comes over, and we never go out, just how we like it.
If our phone rings we duck for cover like it's a grenade.
