www.lastminute.co.uk then find the link to "top secret hotels" sort by 5* and then choose. Prices are about half rack rate or even cheaper, hotels are the main ones offloading rooms they haven't sold.
Good thing is you know you'll be in a 5* and you'll be somewhere you hadn't planned on being in terms of location.
As soon as you book they tell you the hotel details.
I use this service all the time.
Generally the standard of hotels in London is lower than you would expect.
