I'll admit that I like a lot of today's music but I can also admit the quality is much lower on an artistic scale. The music of today is more along the lines of commercial jingles as opposed to actual music composition.

I also think music has been devalued in society and most of it is because of the free file sharing and also the industry itself spent so much time taking teenagers with no talent and making them into stars that people don't really relate music to actual talent anymore.

It's sort of like painting. At one time in history, painters were like the rock stars of the world. Kings would all fight over securing the best painters to live in their country and they would support them. Now, being a skilled painter is not really appreciated at all and can't even earn you a living. I think music is going down that same road. People will always like music, but it will be disposable and not really seen as an art form.
