I met James Hatfield of Metallica in the Village at some record shop and he was like a regular dude.

yup, we had similar with the Huntridge Theater here in Vegas...we had no real scene, but those bands would play and it was the same crowd all the time, cool security guards that knew the difference between slamdancing/stage diving and fighting...and $10 for a ticket for 4-5-6 bands...I was jealous of kids that got to actually grow up in the new york hardcore scene...
