The plaque outside Auscwitz was changed and it reflected the number change, the problem arises when the scholars disregarded this and have never stopped adding millions to the total despite the facts.

you cant blame people for wondering how many actually died when the numbers have been grown to such large numbers that even the Nazi records do not match indicating much less dead than was reported in the 80s. Numbers of dead were so inflated they were forced to publically change them... facts are facts.
President Lech Walesa of Poland officially reduced the numbers in 1995
