While Ellen isn't an expert in singing I think she is highly qualified to judge showmanship and that is part of the judging. As long as she doesn't turn it into a comedy routine and she judges seriously I think the show will do ok. They will certainly get a mass audience for the first few shows to see how she does.
What I found really amusing was the fact that Paula now wants to create her own singing competition show that will rival and surpass American Idol
