well, thats just the thing... hyperthreading just isn't the same as real SMP... only certain kinds of tasks get much benefit from it, and some benchmarks have shown an actual performance drop w/ hyperthreading enabled. while it may look really cool to have so many CPU's showing in the task manager, hyperthreading isn't appropriate except in certain situations. head over to
