Hey, it's like this. The pendulum of public opinion regarding issues such as these change with the times. They always have and they always will.

If, god forbid, a terrorist strike kills a few hundred civilians in NYC, or Amsterdam or any other western city tomorrow you can bet your bippy that the public will be screaming for blood again.

It's up to the government's (any government's) security forces to keep a level head and deal with the shit as best they can. Sometimes they fuck up, like the clowns (amateurs really) who were staffing Abu Ghraib, but most of the time I really believe that they do the best they can.
