Actually American consumers are getting what they want. Low prices ..... poverty level employees ... and foreign working and environmental conditions too harsh for Americans.

I agree. Before walmart was around we would shop at zellers and kmart. Pretty much the same foreign made shit but the prices weren't as good. If I am going to paid for cheap china crap, I at least want it to be cheap as possible.
Until America decides that the playing field needs to be leveled and products sold in American need to be made by American standards, including labor, pay and enviromental standards it will keep on keepin on with or without walmart itself...which will probably never happen anyways since its all about money and not people.
