sitting on the porch after dinner with his 5 year old daughter down in rural Louisianna - the perfect All American scene - a Lifesavers moment about to happen.

Daddy sits on the porch stroking his white beard staring pensively into the distance as the sun sets across the back 40. 5 year old Kimberly Favre is busy a few feet away playing with a ladybug that fascinates her.

Daddy: Honey, come sit on Daddy's lap

*no reply, just the soft humming of a little girl's voice lost in her own world*

Daddy: Did you hear me sweetheart?

*no reply*

Daddy: (in a louder voice) I SAID DID YOU HEAR ME?!?!

*Kimberly's head quickly turns and looks into the glowing eyes of her father and gulps*

Kimberly: (nervously) yes Daddy

*Kimberly robotically climbs onto her father's lap*

Daddy: That's better. Daddy knows how much you like to spend private time with him.

*Kimberly the 5 year old now busies herself snatching at the moths flying about her*

Daddy: You know honey that sometimes life can be hard. Sometimes growed up people like mommyand daddy have decisions to make that are not easy. Daddy is thinking of leaving you again to go play football in Minnesota and win one more SuperBowl. Would that upset you if Daddy left for 8 months and barely said a word to you until you turned 6 next winter?

*Kimberly hasn't heard a word, picking her nose and lost in her own thoughts*

Daddy: (bellowing) GOD DAMMIT, PAY ATTENTION GIRL!!! I SAID HOW WOULD YOU LIKE FOR DADDY TO GO WIN ANOTHER DAMN SUPER BOWL!?!?!?!

*Kimberly trembles, on the verge of tears*

Kimberly: yes, win Super Bowl Daddy

*Daddy smiles and pats his daughter on the head*

Daddy: How can I say no to my little angel? Daddy's got to go make a phonecall now, you have a good year sweetheart and remember you have Daddy's cell number and can call anytime you need me, except during practice, meetings, and of course game days.
