I doubt you would disagree with this.

bullshit.
Easy way to do it. (AVN should send me and everyone else here a portion of your check for all t he time we logging in trying to make AVN more money).
You find out the cost to put a show on. I am sure you can reference previous years to see what the hotel cost etc. It cost "xxxx" amount of money. You have a good estimate of how many booths, advertisers, and attendees you will have. Contact the advertisers and booths early to get a deposit from them and lock them in. Divide the your cost of the show by expected revenue. Take your "profit" that you would have made and start reducing prices for attendees and/or booths. To cover your ass charge booths the same as you did previous year but let them know when the accounting is reconciled that there is a pretty good chance you will have a refund for them. Which then if you do some creative marketing you can make them apply it as a deposit against the next year's shows booth cost.
AVN does the show for NO PROFIT. Meaning their costs to put the show on is recouped from the revenue from the show. Prices are reduced for attendees ahead of time, and for the booths they will get some money refunded if turn out was better than expected.
AVN still gets all of the exposure that goes with having a show for FREE. AVN's name and services are blasted everywhere. AVN gets the same benefit of all of the advertisers at the show get but they get it for free. AVN gets a booth for FREE. etc....
So you can honestly say that you getting FOR FREE everything that you are selling to other companies means that you are doing charity work and you see no point in doing it, then what the fuck kind of message are you sending to the people who buy booths and advertising at the show from you ????
Yes you are a business, but is your business model solely based around running conventions? Or perhaps do you guys make money in other ways from the adult industry.
sad...
