As far as selling shovels during the gold rush, I see what you're saying but I do think this is different. Alot of people develop programs like Russian Submitter and appeal to people looking for quick hits. These days it's all about getting as much traffic as you can any way you can and try to make money by volume. How many of these choker TGP's would die after a few hours of downtime? How bad are the conversion rates gonna get before all these quick buck newbie aspiring millionaires give up? TheHun will always be around, and it will always make money. Surfers depend on it for fresh high quality galleries. Most of the visitors are type in's so they haven't been jerked around a ton of times. Chances are that if you are the first one on thehun to get a new niche site listed, the conversion ratios are gonna be better than a tgp with users that've been jerked around everywhere and already seen the site on a big TGP.
As far as other programs already being out, there needs to be at least some variety. I could have just used advanced submitter, but I may as well make my own if I can. If it's really a useful tool I may as well make some money. Personally I feel advanced submitter is a pain in the ass to use, but I'm a programmer who's used to coding all his own stuff for his personal use. If that one works out just right for you, by all means use that one. I won't talk shit about the competition or try to get rich off someone else's idea. The real proof will be in the response from people who use it.
