water is very heavy. thats why you lose weight fast in two weeks and then it slows. it creates a wrong picture and wrong expectations. atkins also does not address this in any way to my knowledge or even talk about it.

I truly do appreciate informed & intelligent people like yourself that take the time to write out such a well thought out message. You and a few others should pat yourselves on the back!

Now, as for water..actually Atkins & the gang DO address that and advise drinking a LOT of water (I don't know if they give out any minimum amounts or not.). I know I do drink a lot..and constipation is not something I've had with this diet. In fact, quite the opposite..very regular type of guy!

most likely, if you hit a plateau or stopped losing weight, it is because your body is starting to react to the diet and the sudden drop in body fat and is trying to adapt or because you ate too much carbs one day. remember that fat is also very heavy and takes a long time to process. you could just have a bunch of poo inside you also

Hey..are you saying I'm full of IT!? grin
------------------------

the most common reason for me to stop losing weight if/when i do this, is that i start drinking too much diet pepsi. i think the citric acid (is an artificial sweetner) causes it and i am very sure that caffein does not as Atkins suggests. if i stop drinking everything and start drinking only water for a couple days, its fine again.

ya..though a couple of long time Atkin's folks say they drink a lot of diet pop and still manage to lose the weight..of course, almost anything & everything is different for everyone. That's why I'm trying the Da Vinci syrups & club soda. Quite tasty actually.

you should not get impatient or frustrated... just be consistent and exercise and everything will be ok.

I'm not really all that frustrated..more like puzzled and with anything new, am in the learning process. But I've already had great results in my blood glucose levels & cholesterol, so I'm not at all unhappy.
