Maybe newspapers are history, the problem is what will replace them. Nothing on the Internet come close to doing what they do. As I said it's newspapers that investigate corruption at the top and the other news mediums that copy their reporting. But you failed to address that point, like many on the boards when asked a question they can't answer. So can you and can you think through to the consequences?
I think newspapers are probably gone and think it's a sad thing and takes away another tool of democracy.

LOL I'm not sure you have actually bothered to take a look at the new profitable investigative internet-only web sites that are BREAKING news on a daily basis. Shorter -- better articles for the web, along with longer pieces of investigations.
You haven't considered outlets that work off public funding such as NPR and the BBC etc.
Newspapers will be dead b/c the bulk of what they print is recycled wire news from AP, Reuters, UPI etc... that model can not exist anymore given the sheer size of the major news organizations NYT, WSJ, LAT.
In addition, although people are talking about newspapers, we have yet to talk about how the Internet has changed the way people consume news -- now television and radio directly compete on the same medium with newspapers -- that's led to MULTIMEDIA orgs -- TV stations have both newscasts and written local news -- same with radio stations that are still around.
News is not dying -- just newspapers are dying -- and that will further the sunshine on all areas of life -- for better or worse there will be few secrets.
I disagree with EscortBiz, it's not yoru age that is leading to a faulty conclusion it is your nostalgia.
