and its most likely worth it to Google to simply dig at Microsofts market share in all arenas (search/search marketing/ppc engine/other online ads/browser/OS etc). they don't have to build a better OS or displace Vista/et al. that doesn't have to be the short term goal or the goal at all. they can simply chip away at them for the long term until they are weak enough to go for the kill shot. people forget that for a super huge company like this... this kind of bullshit is often just a small tax write off. microsoft has a long history of playing hardball to gain/control marketshare. finally someone can start to put them in their place and apply persistent pressure to them.
