There are tons of cable TV ads running on free television channels. And there are plenty of ads for cable "upsells" on cable TV channels.

OK.. This is going to be long:
Free porn:
- advertises "pay-porn" ( paysites ), nothing else ( not computers, internet providers, or other main stream products)
Free TV:
- advertises at 90% various consumers products.
- Advertise some pay-tv ( HBO, etc) services or events, but not more than 10% of their ads.
So to compare those as identical business model is way off base.
That was the very simple point.
To be true, your comparaison should be backed by " Free TV only revenues are generated by promoting PAY-TV ", which is not.
