Well, I remember Westerns when they would call someone a yellow bellied coward, or someone might have a yellow streak.
I also remember movies that depicted the railroads being built and when the Chinese came in to assist they were called yellow skinned just like Indians were considered redskins.
They were not white so they had to be some color I guess.
