here is one from my experience
every business is divided into five catagories
lead generation
conversion
money per order
customer life/retention
productivity (time per dollar earned)
instead of focusing on one, cycle thru them when doing improvements. Counter pressures to each optimization always happen and when you optimize one complete first you sacrifice what could be significantly greater improvement in another section.
secondly your first improvement is usually the most significant, going from nothing to something usually results in the best results, with each future improvement being only minor comparitively. cycling maximizes growth.
third these 5 catagories multiply in effectiveness, try and double your business by doubling your leads is very hard. doubling your business by increasing your leads by 15% your conversion by 15% your money per order by 15% your retention by 15% and your productivity by 15% is very easy. (1.15^5).
