I'm white.. if a cop showed up at my house, asked to see my id, I'd yes him to death and show him my id. I wouldn't start screaming at him that this is my house and how dare he come here when a break in is reported. Do what the officer says, be polite as possible and there won't be a problem. Doesn't matter what color you are. When you get mouthy, you get arrested.
