Google killed the easy profits of adwords in adult, long before Tubes came around. Porn is chump change... it's a tiny tiny tiny slice of the global Internet traffic. That is a serious pain in the ass, that has complaints, etc.
And adword wise, it's harder to make money in mainstream adwords, even on buy action words, than ever before. I haven't found any niche that I can just toss up an affiliate link and clean house, in years. But that doesn't mean you can't make money with affiliate products.
Paysites don't normally get listed on power words because the surfer, doesn't actually want to see them.
People, don't like to be sold.. period. If every time you clicked a link, you had to pay for something.. how long would you continue to click that link?
You make it sound like, "free" is what has made the profits drop. When the truth is, you and the affiliates are still slinging the same old shit, the same old way, thinking the same old people, are going to buy your same old shit, given to them the same old way.
