I only made it to Incirlik the last time I was there...and a few other cities that were close to it...again I was lucky and had a job in the fed gov that allowed me to spend most of my time with the local population but Istanbul was clearly much farther than I was allowed to go at the time :/
The gold markets and leather and rug stores were amazing! The food and the carahani's were pretty nice too
